The 3 R's
Respectful, Responsible, Resourceful
Respectful:
- Respect all students and teachers you encounter. Everyone's circumstance is different than yours. Every student's ability, learning style, and timing is different. The expectation is you RESPECT all students and teachers at ALL times.
- Respect your classroom and the things that are in it. Take care of your school supplies and clean up after yourself.
Responsible:
- Take RESPONSIBILITY for your own actions and come to class ready to be a student.
- Make sure you have a pencil, paper, your binder, book, and your charged computer.
- While in class, you should be taking notes, focusing on classwork, and completing practice work without being disruptive.
Resourceful:
- When you need help, be RESOURCEFUL. If you don't understand a problem, first look in your notes to see if you already worked a problem similar to the one you are having issues with and look at the problem step by step. If you are still having issues, raise your hand and ask for help.
- Make sure you get the help you need even if that means coming in after school.
Procedures
Beginning of Class:
- Come into class quietly, sit down in your seat, and get started on the POD (Problem(s) of the Day). You will have about 3-5 minutes to work on the POD each day.
- Cell phones need to be put away. No phones will be allowed during class. I do not want to see any phones.
During Class:
- Always stay focused on the task at hand.
- While taking notes, sit quietly and take notes. If you have a question or comment, raise your hand.
- While working in groups, stay on task. Everyone should be showing their work. You should be talking through the problem with each other. Share how you are going to solve the problem. Compare answers within your group.
- While working individually, work quietly. Utilize your resources. If you don't understand a problem, first look in your notes to see if you already worked out a problem similar to the one you are having issues with and look at the problem step by step. If you are still having issues, raise your hand and ask for help.
- While playing a review game, keep the noise level at an indoor level. No screaming or yelling. Stay in your seat.
- Computers should only be opened when instructed to do so. When we are working on computers, stay on the site that you are supposed to be on.
End of Class:
- We will talk about what we learned that day and the plan for the next day and any important dates coming up.
- Stay in your seat until the bell rings.
